Ralph Wayne Summers, a masonry-carpenter-laborer and life-long resident of Bishop, CA, died on March 19, 2017 at the age of 58 in his home.
Ralph was born in Bridgeport, CA on May 30, 1958 to Jackie and Frances Summers. He graduated from Bishop Union High School in 1976. He attended American River College in Sacramento, CA where he also lived and worked for a few years. He moved to the Tahoe area with his girlfriend where he worked at Avis Car Rentals. Ralph moved back to Bishop and was a truck driver/delivery person for a couple of valley distributors. He worked at various jobs in Bishop and Mammoth in construction, masonry, wood-vending, and most recent, chain-installer during the winter season.
He was an avid Sportsman. He liked fishing and hunting in the Sierras and Whites. His enjoyment of music led him to numerous concerts and music festivals. He idolized the music of the “Marshall Tucker” band, “Rolling Stones”, “Lynard Skynard”, and the “Almond Brothers Band”, just to name a few.
His pride and joy was his vinyl record collection which he started accumulating back in his teens. He would often play his favorites for his social “get-togethers” and whenever someone would stop by to visit.
Ralph enjoyed various outings and celebrations with his family. He was a good story-teller and liked to laugh by recalling the many antics of his youth, and your youth…he could recall every detail of all the embarrassing moments that you tried to forget or who you dated back when. He also had a special gift for supplying his friends and family with nicknames—you know who you are and the nickname he gave you.
Ralph was a generous and giving person who lived life on his terms. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Ralph is survived by his many relatives, volumes of friends, and loyal companions; Sage and Pretty Girl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Frances Summers and Sister Janet.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on April 1, 2017 at the Barlow Lane Gym. Gretchen Hess will officiate. Interment will be at the Mono Lake Cemetery in Lee Vining, CA. A social gathering, pot luck style, will be held at the Barlow Lane Gym after returning from Lee Vining.
