Quick Response from Bishop Fire Prevents Major Water Damage at Local Residence
Just before 8:00 a.m., a call went out for a water vac unit at 1606 Shoshone after a significant water leak was reported. Upon my arrival, Bishop Fire Department’s incident command was already on scene and working to shut off the water supply to the residence.
Initial efforts to stop the flow proved difficult. The first valve located at the property had no effect, and the second valve was seized, raising concerns that the entire community’s water supply might need to be shut off if the valve were to break or not be successfully shut off.
Moments later, additional Bishop Fire crews arrived on scene. They quickly jumped into action—moving furniture and helping contain and clean up the water inside the home. Meanwhile, outside, firefighters worked to uncover the seized valve. Digging through mud and standing water, they used a large wrench to finally break the valve free and shut off the water supply.
Relief swept through the scene as the homeowner shouted in gratitude.
This incident is a strong reminder that our fire department does far more than fight fires—they serve the community in countless ways, responding with speed, care, and determination when it matters most.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the homeowners as they recover from the damage, and we extend our deepest thanks to Bishop Fire Department for their dedication and hard work.
