PROCLAMATION ALLOWING BURN PERMITS AND OPEN BURNING FOR SAN BERNARDINO, INYO AND MONO COUNTIES EFFECTIVE:

November 21, 2025, at 0800 hours

San Bernardino, CA – The burn permit suspension in the State Responsibility Areas of San Bernardino, Inyo, and Mono Counties will be lifted. I am formally canceling the burn permit suspension and advising that those possessing current and valid residential burn permits can now resume burning on permissible burn days. This can be verified by contacting your local Air Quality Management District.

Recent significant precipitation and cooler temperatures have aided in lessening the threat of wildfire. Property owners and residents are asked to use caution while conducting debris burns, follow all guidelines provided, and always maintain control of your fire. Individuals can be held civilly and or criminally liable for allowing a fire to escape their control and/or burn onto neighboring property.

Residents wishing to burn MUST verify it is a permissive burn day prior to burning.

Burn hours for residential burning are 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

All burn permits are issued annually. These along with mandatory use and safety information may be obtained online at https://burnpermit.fire.ca.gov.

Safe residential pile burning is an important tool for reducing wildfire risk. During this same window, State, Federal, and Local agencies will also conduct prescribed burns to improve forest health and wildfire resilience on both public and private lands.
