Pile Burning Near Crestview
Bishop, California, January 14, 2026— The Inyo National Forest will be continuing pile burning starting tomorrow, January 15, on the Mono Lake Ranger District. Approximately 280 acres of machine-built piles will be burned in the Dry Creek units 3 and 4 (see map for reference). Crews expect to complete the Dry Creek piles by Friday.
Fire managers work with the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District and the National Weather Service to minimize smoke impacts to local communities. Smoke will be visible from Mammoth Lakes and Highway 395.
