After spending her early childhood with her grandmother in Nebraska, she moved to

live with her mother in Glendale, California, where she met her husband of 71 years, Edward Kruger. The couple was a part of The Greatest Generation; Edward served his country in the Pacific during World War 2 while Phyllis supported him from home, raising their only child, Sherrin Pratt. After the war, Phyllis spent 30-some-years working as an elementary school secretary, where she not only ensured that things ran smoothly in the office, but took special attention to help non-english speaking children who were struggling in school because of language barriers. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Bishop to join their daughter and grandchildren, where they spent the remainder of their time golfing and hiking in the Eastern Sierras, the highlight of which was reaching the top of Mt. Whitney.

Phyllis was loved by all who knew her, but especially by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherrin and David Pratt; her grandson and his wife, Jeffery and Sonja Pratt; her granddaughter, Jennifer Thornburg; her niece, Lanie Kruger; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jessie, and Shayna Thornburg, Madelina and her husband Pablo Pozas, and her only great-grandson, Nathaniel Pratt. Her family views her as the foundation for the love they share for one another. Her sparkling eyes, ever-present smile, and sparkly manicures will not be  forgotten.

Phyllis and her husband were instrumental in the formation and development of Bishop Creek Community Church where she happily served the Lord for many years. Her love for God was an inspiration to all who knew her. The celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at Bishop Creek Community Church at 11am on September 29, 2018. In leu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory may make a donation to the Building Fund at Bishop Creek Community Church.
