Some June Lake Residents Without Power – We Need To A Serious Look At Policies That Could Leave People Without Heat When It Matters Most. Especially, AB 1346
December 29, 2025 – 8:45 PM
We’re hearing tonight most of the June Lake Loop is up but that still means that parts of June still do not have power after outages that began on December 24. With temperatures plunging and tonight’s low expected to hit 13 degrees, the situation is especially concerning. Despite this, there are once again no outages officially reported. Maybe it’s only affecting a handful of residents—but imagine going five days without electricity in this kind of cold.
For many of us, even our backup heat depends on power. My pellet stove runs on electricity. With California planning to ban gas-powered generators by the end of 2028 under AB 1346, it raises a serious question: how long will an electric generator realistically keep a pellet stove running during an extended outage?
I’m not opposed to going green—but I am a realist. Until we have an electrical grid that is reliable, resilient, and close to flawless, we need to take a hard look at policies that could leave people without heat when it matters most.
