Adventure Trails Pilot Program Coming to an End
Inyo County is offering advanced notice that the Adventure Trails Pilot Program will be sunsetting on January 1, 2025.
Assembly Bill 628, approved in 2011, authorized the County to establish a pilot project to designate highway segments as combined-use to allow certain non-street legal vehicles to drive on certain County roads to access goods, services, and existing off-highway vehicle trails. The Board of Supervisors authorized the designation of seven routes for combined use in 2015, and lobbied for extension of the program to January 2025 via SB 1345 and SB 402.
Mammoth Community Water District has Adopted the Landscape Standards Policy.
Mammoth Lakes, California – The Mammoth Community Water District’s Board of Directors adopted the Landscape Standards Policy, revising landscaping language found in the MCWD Code. The language in the policy aligns current practices with California regulations and the District’s Water Shortage Contingency Plan, as well as a streamlined permitting process.

Join us as we explore the country’s smallest national forest, located just east of Montgomery, AL, near the famed Tuskegee University. Born from the exhausted soils of the Great Depression, the USDA and Tuskegee Institute partnered to help the tenant farmers and sharecroppers, many of whom were Black. After a successful revitalization of the soil, Tuskegee National Forest is now a living forest that both plays a significant role for people’s livelihoods and serves as a recreation hub for both the nearby town of Tuskegee and Macon County, AL. Hand Car Rides at Laws!
Have you ever wanted to ride a hand car? Are you at least 4 foot tall? Do you have $5.00? If you’ve answered YES to these questions, we’ve got a surprise for you! We are doing hand car rides starting this Saturday, June 15th. And mark your calendars for future hand car dates, July 27th and August 24th. This is a pilot program, if it proves popular, we can add more dates so come on out, ride the rails, and support the museum.

Department Processing Free YARTS Vouchers for Residents
MONO COUNTY, Calif. (June 13, 2024) – This summer, Mono County is rolling out a new program that allows for residents to reserve free tickets on the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System (YARTS) into and through Yosemite National Park and surrounding communities. To receive free rides, individuals must fill out an application and show proof of residency, and then will receive a voucher number that must be entered when making a reservation online. Applications may take up to five days to process. This free voucher program will begin on July 1st and continue until the end of the summer season.

Film Premiere About Climate Change on the Inyo National Forest
Bishop, Calif., June 12, 2024— Inyo National Forest in partnership with Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA), are premiering a new short film, The Sierra Nevada: Adapting to our Changing Climate on Thursday, June 27 at Mountain Rambler Brewery.
Mountain Rambler Brewery is located¬¬ at 186 South Main Street, Bishop, CA. The event, organized by ESIA, will be held at 7:00pm. A short presentation and discussion with the filmmaker and speakers will follow.
