“On February 1, 2020, at approximately 2:54 PM, a 27 year old male from Lone Pine, CA, was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup northbound on Horseshoe Meadows Road, south of Lubken Canyon Road. For an unknown reason, the driver made an unsafe turning movement, causing the pickup to lose control. The pickup subsequently overturned several times in a dirt field before coming to rest on its roof. The driver, along with three teenage passengers, were injured in the collision. A 14 year old boy from Lone Pine, CA, was ejected from the pickup during the collision and suffered major injuries. Personnel from the Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Dept., Independence Volunteer Fire Dept., Inyo County Sheriff’s  Dept., Dept. of Fish & Wildlife, and Dept. of California Highway Patrol responded to the collision scene. All four occupants were transported to Southern Inyo Hospital for medical treatment. Due to the severity of injuries suffered by two teenage passengers, they were transported by Sierra Life Flight to Loma Linda Hospital. During the collision investigation, it was determined the passenger ejected from the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
