Just a hint of months to come in the Eastern Sierra, weather this week left at least four or five inches of snow at the top of Canyon Express at Mammoth Mountain. Snow capped the White Mountains and the Sierra in many places. The incredible downpour of rain and hail drenched other areas, and caused the closure of Tioga Pass, Monitor Pass and Sonora Pass. It was expected these passes would re-open when weather improves.
