During the summer months, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas will be providing the attached Weekly HeatRisk Outlook for several locations across southern Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona. This email will be sent each Thursday morning through the summer with the forecast HeatRisk through the next 7 days.
NWS HeatRisk is a color-numeric-based index that provides a forecast risk of heat-related impacts to occur over a 24-hour period. HeatRisk takes into consideration:
- How unusual the heat is for the time of the year.
- The duration of the heat, including both daytime and nighttime temperatures.
- If those temperatures pose an elevated risk of heat-related impacts based on data from the CDC.
We encourage you to check the HeatRisk map every day as these risk categories can change with the official forecast, which is updated at least twice a day.
If you require more detailed information regarding the forecast, please do not hesitate to contact us 24/7. If you need specialized weather information for an event you’re supporting, fill out our Weather Support Request Form, and we will be in touch to customize a weather solution for your needs.
Regards,
NWS Las Vegas
