Record-Breaking Heat This Week

A dangerous early-season extreme heat event is on track to affect the region this week. High temperatures will be 20 to 30 degrees above normal for mid-March, more comparable to what would be expected for June. The timing coincides with Spring Break for many educational institutions and will be dangerous to locals and tourists alike. Extreme Heat Watches have been issued for sections of the forecast area.

Changes From Previous Briefing

  • Extreme Heat Watch issued for parts of San Bernardino and Inyo counties, as well as Clark and Mohave counties near the Colorado River from Wednesday through Friday.
