AFSCME press release
Northern Inyo Hospital District (NIHD) and Nurses represented by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) have arrived at a Tentative Agreement on the terms of their first union contract.
After fourteen months of bargaining, both Registered Nurses and District Administration are pleased to announce that they will each be recommending the agreement be approved. This tentative agreement must now by ratified by Nurses and the District Board of Directors before becoming final.
“ I am pleased to see that after months of slow progress both sides were able to quicken the pace of negotiations and that we now have an agreement that I can confidently present to the NIHD Board of Directors,” explained Dr. Kevin Flanigan, Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Inyo Hospital District.
“This agreement is a great step forward for Nurses and for our patients, as we believe it will enable NIHD to recruit and retain experienced caregivers for our community,” explained Chris Hanley, a member of the RN Negotiating Committee. “Both sides made concessions and worked to reach an agreement that resolves all our major concerns. We look forward to voting on our contract and moving forward with the District as One Team, with One Goal, Your Health.”
