The community is invited to come enjoy National Night Out – a night on the town with their local first responders Tuesday. There will be free hot dogs fresh off the grill, along with music, lawn games, and freebies for the kids.
The festivities are set to take place from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, on Church Street behind City Hall in Bishop.
In addition to meeting local law enforcement officers and volunteer firefighters, everyone is invited to come meet the new chief of the Bishop Police Department, Richard Standridge. A former member of the Porterville Police Department, Standridge recently made the transition to Bishop and is excited to meet the community.

A big thank you to all the agencies and their personnel for not just last night’s event, but for risking their lives every day to ensure the rest of us are safe.
My hat is off and my greatest respect goes to those of you who are the first ones in and the last ones out to protect your community and your country.
May all of you and your families always be safe.
