August 5, 2025 Meeting Highlights:
● The Board adopted a proclamation designating the month of August 2025 as Child Support Awareness Month.
● The Board adopted a proclamation designating the month of August 2025 as National Breastfeeding Month.
● The Board sent a Letter of Support for Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System’s (YARTS) Application to the Federal Transit Administration’s FY 2025 Buses and Bus Facilities Grant Program.
● The Board approved a Letter of Recommendation in Support of Ray McPadden as Superintendent of Yosemite National Park.
● The Board approved a Letter of Support for Reauthorization of Secure Rural Schools (SRS) Program.
● The Board approved a Letter of Support for Whitebark Institute’s Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project Grant Application.
● The Board Authorized the County to apply for the Board of State Community Corrections Edward Byrne Justice Access Grant.
August 11, 2025 Meeting Highlights:
● The Board recognized Richard Bonneau with a Proclamation recognizing his retirement after 13 years of service as a Substance Use Counselor.
● The Board approved the renewal of the County’s Mutual Aid Agreement. The Mutual Aid Agreement recognizes the unique services each Eastern Sierra Agency provides to meet the emergency services needs of Mono County through the reciprocal sharing of resources. This provides for a seamless public safety response which benefits the County and Fire Districts alike.
● The Board adopted an ordinance creating the Office of the Public Defender.
● The Board approved a letter of support for Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District’s grant application.
Emergency Alert Testing
Mono County Office of Emergency Services will conduct a critical test of our READY Mono emergency alert system on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. This test targets communities of Mono City, Lee Vining, and June Lake. Additional tests will also be conducted in other communities in September, October and November.

Ride for Free:
Mono County Residents Can Access Yosemite National Park with YARTS Voucher Program Mono County residents can now explore Yosemite for free through the new YARTS Summer Voucher Program. This pilot program provides free YARTS bus tickets and free entrance to Yosemite National Park. Full details and the application can be accessed here.
Scam Alert: Fake Consulate Appointments
The County of Mono is warning residents about a scam targeting fraudulent appointments for an upcoming visit from the Mexican Consulate. The Mono County Health and Human Services Department wants to clarify that scheduling appointments for the Mexican Consulate is always free of charge. Neither the County of Mono nor the Consulate will ever request payment for this service. Residents should not provide any personal, financial, or payment information to these fraudulent services.
If you have paid for a fake appointment or provided personal information, report the incident to local law enforcement and contact your bank. For legitimate information and to schedule an appointment, contact the Mono County Health and Human Services Department at (760) 924-1789.
