EV-Charging Infrastructure Opportunity

The Central Sierra Economic Development District has secured a $4 million grant to expand EV-charging infrastructure across rural Sierra counties — including Mono.

Local businesses and property owners can sign up to be considered as “host” sites for new charging stations. If selected, the project could include a free site evaluation and fully funded installation of EV chargers.

To learn more, businesses can fill out the interest form, which also serves as registration for the December informational webinars (Dec. 8, 11, 15 & 18). These sessions will walk through site criteria, project timelines, and next steps for interested hosts.

State of Emergency Declared for Mono County

Following the Pack Fire

On December 9, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom declared a State of Emergency for Mono County to support recovery from the Pack Fire, which burned near Crowley Lake in November. The fire destroyed 30 homes and businesses and damaged six additional structures. The declaration speeds up debris and hazardous-waste cleanup and makes state assistance and low-interest SBA disaster loans available to affected residents and businesses.

SBA Disaster Loan Support Available for

Homeowners, Renters, and Businesses Impacted by the Pack Fire

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is currently meeting with Pack Fire survivors and will continue into next week to determine eligibility for low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, and businesses.

SBA has also committed to returning after the holidays, allowing additional time for those who need to gather documentation. Mono County will continue sharing information to ensure all eligible residents are aware of these resources.

Work-from-home and self-employed individuals may also be eligible for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) if they operate a qualifying business and can document economic injury related to the disaster. Physical damage to the home is not required for EIDL consideration.
