FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mono County Completes Purchase of Bridgeport Junction Apartments
Property Acquisition is Part of Strategy to Address Local Workforce Housing Crisis

MONO COUNTY, Calif. (OCTOBER 17, 2024) – Earlier this week, Mono County completed purchase of the Bridgeport Junction Apartments located at 264 Highway 182 in Bridgeport. The property includes four apartments and a manager’s unit previously used for short-term rental. The newly acquired County property will transition to long-term workforce housing for the Bridgeport community.

“The purchase of this property is a critical step toward addressing the urgent need for workforce housing in Mono County,” said Supervisor John Peters, Chair of the Mono County Board of Supervisors. “Our local workforce is the backbone of our community, and ensuring they have access to affordable, stable housing is essential to our county’s sustainability and growth. By investing in workforce housing, we are investing in the future of Mono County—strengthening our economy, supporting local businesses, and ensuring that the people who live and work here can continue to call this place home.”

Mono County is committed to identifying opportunities to expand the local supply of workforce and affordable housing, while developing an overall long-term housing program. Acquisition of the Bridgeport Junction Apartments property will transition units from the short-term rental market into the long-term rental market, with the goal of housing workers and their families that have jobs in and around Bridgeport.

Upon taking ownership, Mono County Public Works will begin conducting thorough inspections of each unit and make necessary improvements and minor cosmetic upgrades. Once improved, two apartments will be available for Mono County employees, and three units will be made available to the general public. Mono County has opened a Bridgeport Junction Apartments Interest List for those interested in applying for a unit. The goal is to have each unit filled by January, 1, 2025. Details on the Bridgeport Junction Apartments can be accessed here.
