Mono County news release

Bridgeport, Calif. — At a special meeting of the Mono County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, the Mono County Board of Supervisors announced the appointment of Steven Barwick as the new County Administrative Officer (CAO). The CAO is the chief administrative officer overseeing all county operations, in Mono County.

After a nationwide executive search by Protham Company, which received more than 45 resumes for the position, the candidates were narrowed to a short list of finalists.

Following an extensive interview process, the Board of Supervisors selected Mr. Barwick based on his experience, educational background, and employment history.

Mr. Barwick’s most recent employer was the City of Aspen, Colorado, where he served for more than 25
years, including 19 years as the City Manager.

When asked about his new position, Mr.
Barwick stated, “I am honored and excited to serve Mono County’s residents, Board of Supervisors, and county employees. My wife and I are eager to make new friends and become deeply involved in this wonderful community.”

With respect to Mr. Barwick’s appointment, Board of Supervisors’ Chair John Peters said, “It is my sincere pleasure to welcome Mr. Barwick and his wife to Mono County. Mr. Barwick comes to the County with many years of public service and a wealth of experience from the City of Aspen, Colorado. I am certain that he brings with him the skills, dedication, and knowledge to move Mono County forward to accomplish our strategic priorities and maintain fiscal resiliency while enhancing our workforce.”

Mr. Barwick starts his new position on September 9, 2019.
