INCENDIO

WITH SPECIAL GUEST ARDESHIR FARAH

image

The acclaimed Los-Angeles-based “modern world guitar” group INCENDIO is so pleased to be returning to the 2023 Millpond Festival. INCENDIO’s live performance is an explosive improvisatory journey. They perform original “world guitar” compositions featuring incredible guitar-playing across a variety of genres: latin, middle-eastern, and celtic grooves. Formed in 1999, INCENDIO has 11 CD’s and 2 DVD’s available internationally.

For the first time ever, the group will feature as a guest the Iranian-born guitar legend Ardeshir Farah. Farah is a member of the groundbreaking guitar duo Strunz and Farah (also featuring the incredible Jorge Strunz). They were and continue to be a huge influence on Incendio (and so many others), and the group is honored have Ardeshir burn on some INCENDIO classics as well as some of his own compositions.

INCENDIO’s 2013’s release “The Shape of Dreams”, stayed at or near the top of the Amazon flamenco and world charts for the remainder of that year. They have reached over 100 million spins on streaming radio. INCENDIO is Jim Stubblefield (guitar), JP Durand (guitar, guitar synth), Liza Carbe (bass, guitar) and Tim Curle (drums).

We are so excited to have Incendio returning to Millpond on Saturday night!

BEAUSOLEIL

AVEC MICHAEL DOUCET

image 1

For 50 years, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet has been hailed as “the best Cajun band in the world.” Doucet and the band can be credited with taking Cajun music from its regional roots in Louisiana to popularity worldwide. Born from their rich Acadian ancestry, BeauSoleil’s distinctive sound derives from the distilled spirits of New Orleans jazz, blues rock, folk, swamp pop, Zydeco, country and bluegrass. Driven by bandleader Michael Doucet’s spellbinding fiddle playing and soulful vocals, BeauSoleil brings even the most staid audience to its feet. Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!

We are thrilled to have BeauSoleil as our closing act on Saturday!

SUNDAY

SAGE ROMERO & AKAMYA

image

AkaMya was formed in 1997 by youth wanting positive outlets in the community. The group started small and developed into a weekly dance group that performed at community events. As role models to the youth, AkaMya dedicates itself to a lifestyle of wellness and sobriety. Through action and example, we live our lives in a good way so that the youth see native adults in their community that are strong and dedicated to the culture, traditions, people, and teachings of our ancestors.

Sage Romero of AkaMya will conduct a land acknowledgement at the start of the festival on Friday, September 15. AkaMya will also perform Sunday morning – our favorite way to start the last day of the festival!

BISHOP JAZZ COMBOimage 2

The Bishop Jazz Combo began about 12 years ago with 2 players rehearsing in a living room. It gradually grew into a full-size combo with Dan Merrill on Alto sax, Carolyn Tiernan on Tenor sax, Steve White on trombone, Roger Fearing on guitar, Ella Boehme on keyboard, Marty Tiernan on bass and Mary Tannheimer on drums. We play classic jazz and latin, some rock, and several fun original pieces by our tenor player. We are all local and love performing in various venues around the Eastern Sierra.

The Bishop Jazz Combo will be on stage Sunday morning!

DAVID JACOBS-STRAIN & BOB BEACH

image 3

David Jacobs-Strain is a fierce slide guitar player, and a song poet from Oregon. He’s known for both his virtuosity and spirit of emotional abandon. It’s a range that ties Jacobs-Strain to his own generation and to guitar-slinger troubadours like Robert Johnson and Jackson Browne. Bob Beach is a master harmonica player, flute player, songwriter and singer. Bob has performed for years with many musicians and is the harp player of choice on the east coast and beyond.

Bob met David in 2002. Their live show moves from humorous, subversive blues, to delicate balladry, and then swings back to swampy rock and roll.

Checkout David Jacobs-Strain and Bob Beach on stage early Sunday!
