The Broncos advance to the CIF Central Section Division 5 championship with a come from behind 26-22 win over #1 seed and previously undefeated Liberty, Madera. The Broncos will now travel to Woodlake on Friday for the Championship game, 7pm kickoff. Friday at Madera the Broncos had a big night from Senior Quarterback Emory Dondero and Senior receiver Carlos Sualez. The duo connected for 3 touchdowns and Emory ran in a score accounting for the Bronco scoring. On the night Dondero completed 15 of 21 passes for 246 yards. Dondero also rushed for 39 yards on the muddy Liberty field. Sualez caught 6 passes for 124 yards. Hunter Dailey carried the ball 8 times for 27 yards. The Bronco defense held a powerful Liberty offense in check and forced 4 takeaways. Elliott Douda and Richie Talavera had interceptions and Dom Dondero and Douda recovered fumbles. Dom Dondero had a big night at the linebacker position with 9 solo tackles including a pair of tackles for loss. Hunter Dailey had 10 solo tackles including a tackle for loss. Devaun Mitchell made 8 solo stops and a TFL. Malachi Orrick and Darrick Cortez each had 6 solo tackles. Richie Talavera had 5 solos and the game clinching interception. Chucky Delgado made 5 solo tackles and a tackle for a loss. Levi Derr and Jaden Jimenez each made 3 solo tackles. A win Friday and the Broncos join the 1957, 2010, and 2019 teams as CIF champions. A win also qualifies the team for the State Regionals.
