Mary Ann Kopeczky aged 93, passed away on December 16, 2024, in Lone Pine, CA. Born on September 23, 1931, Mary was a cherished resident of Bishop for over 60 years and was known for her generosity and loving nature. Mary’s life was marked by a dedication to her community and family. She worked at various organizations, including Better Homes & Gardens, NIH as a candy striper, H&R Block, A to Z Thrift Store benefiting the Civil Air Patrol, and briefly at her son’s company, EVRI. Her career reflected her commitment to service and support for
others.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Longnecker and William Kopeczky; her daughter, Karen Weger; and son-in-law, Steve McWithey. Mary is survived by her children, Craig Longnecker (Jacquiline), Kim Longnecker (Laurie), Julia McWithey, and Galen Kopeczky. She was a loving grandmother to Levi, Candice (Logan), Ryan (Vanessa) Longnecker, Heather Hailey (Ray), Sarah Campbell (Justin), Sabrina Allen (Eddy), Haley Harding (Darin), and Chase McWithey, along with numerous great-grandchildren. Mary’s passion for cooking, which began on a farm in Iowa, was evident in her famous popcorn balls and cookies. She collected cookbooks and enjoyed cross stitch and crocheting. An avid treasure hunter, she loved visiting yard sales and thrift stores, always finding joy in gifting her treasures to family and friends. Mary also cherished her pets and was a regular volunteer at the Chalfant Community bingo games.
Mary’s life was a testament to her caring and fun spirit, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
