In Mono County Court news, a man passing himself off as a lawyer in Mammoth Lakes, has plead to unauthorized practice of law.

According to Assistant District Attorney Kyle Graham, Gregory Raffetto had assisted Mammoth locals on a number of legal matters on an unpaid basis. While Graham couldn’t confirm if Raffetto had been to law school or not, Raffetto was not registered with the California Bar Association.

Graham reports that Raffetto had drafted pleas and other matters for clients that have to be done by a licensed attorney.

Raffetto is reported to have business cards with the word esquire after his name, implying that he was an attorney.

Raffetto reportedly did not charge for his services and told clients that he was not licensed as an attorney. He was sentenced to time served and probation.
