MAMMOTH LAKES POLICE DEPARTMENT ARRESTS RESIDENT FOR SUSPECTED
SOLICITATION OF SEXUAL ACTS WITH A MINOR
On Sunday, November 24, 2024, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department received information that a Mammoth Lakes resident identified as Jose Oscar Ramirez-Hernandez was attempting to solicit a minor female for sexual acts via social media. On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, Ramirez-Hernandez arranged to meet with the minor at a local hotel with the intent of having sexual intercourse. Instead, Ramirez-Hernandez was met by MLPD Detectives and Mono County District Attorney’s Investigators and was placed under arrest without incident. Ramirez-Hernandez was charged with 288.2(A)(1)PC – Sending Harmful Material to Seduce a Minor, 288.4 (A)1PC – Arranging Meeting With Minor For Lewd Purpose and 288.4(B) PC – Going to Arranged Meeting Place with Minor. Ramirez-Hernandez is currently being held on a $75,000 bail at the Mono County Jail.
Criminal charges are merely allegations of criminal conduct. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent until the contrary is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
