MAMMOTH LAKES PARTNERS LAUNCH VIDEO SERIES AND STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

“Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal – It’s A Mammoth Thing” video series launches during
the busy summer season to cover critical topics related to responsible recreation

Mammoth Lakes, Calif. (July 11, 2024): Mammoth Lakes Tourism, in collaboration
with the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Recreation, announces the
launch of the “Keep Mammoth Lakes Unreal – It’s a Mammoth Thing” video series as of
July 11, 2024. The campaign aims to create a culture of protecting and preserving
Mammoth Lakes through a series of six engaging videos, each focusing on a topic that
invites everyone to take action.

The first video in the series highlights the ever-present issue of the proper disposal of
dog waste. The video combines facts and humor to both educate and entertain viewers.
Partners plan to release subsequent videos on topics including parking, trail etiquette,
wildlife safety, dog leashing and public transportation.

The “It’s a Mammoth Thing” campaign will utilize a multi-channel marketing approach to
promote each video and its corresponding messages to ensure maximum reach and
impact. The campaign will be supported by:

  • Public Relations and Media Outreach: Issuing press releases, pitching stories
to local and regional media, and engaging influencers to amplify the campaign
    messages.
  • Website and Email: Creating a dedicated campaign page on the Mammoth
Lakes Tourism website, publishing blog posts, and sending targeted email blasts.
  • Social Media: Sharing full videos, teasers, and interactive posts on Instagram,
    Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.

Betsy Truax, Community Engagement Director for Mammoth Lakes Tourism, says,
“Collaboration is at the heart of our commitment to preserving Mammoth Lakes’ natural
beauty and ensuring sustainable tourism practices. By partnering with the Town of
Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Lakes Recreation, we strengthen our efforts to address
pressing stewardship issues, demonstrating our shared dedication to protecting this
extraordinary environment for future generations.”
This video series is just one of many planned campaigns promoting responsible
tourism. Through Destination Think, a collaboration with global destination leaders, MLT
is taking new steps to drive innovation in tourism. Stewardship initiatives including the
“Real Unreal” campaign, along with local and regional partnerships aimed at preserving
the majestic nature of Mammoth Lakes are a key part of the organization’s strategic
vision.

The first video can be found on all Mammoth Lakes Tourism social media platforms and
the dedicated campaign page at https://www.visitmammoth.com/its-a-mammoth-thing/
as of July 11, 2024. Stay tuned for future updates paired with each video release and
