Mono County Moves to Protect Waters
On March 26, the Mono County Board of Supervisors adopted a critical ordinance establishing a mandatory Water Vessel Inspection Program to help prevent golden mussels from entering local waterways. Beginning April 9, inspections and decontamination will be required before launching—a proactive measure aiming to safeguard local waters and the future of recreation in the Eastern Sierra. Clean Energy Backs Plan
A broad coalition of clean energy and climate leaders this week announced support for the Building an Affordable California Act, a proposed statewide measure. Peak Spring Break
The largest spring break overlap is here. The week of March 28 brings the biggest wave of travelers from Southern California, with major districts including Los Angeles Unified, Irvine Unified, Orange Unified, Tustin Unified, and San Diego Unified all on break. Universities such as Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, and Cal State LA are also out. Happening today, March 30, the Town of Mammoth Lakes Parks and Recreation is hosting the Summer Recreation Expo from 4–7pm at the Community Recreation Center / LA Kings Ice. Latino Voices
This Wednesday, April 1, the Town is hosting a focus group for Latino community members from 6–7:30pm at the Community Center on Forest Trail. The meeting will be conducted in Spanish with the purpose of gathering input on parks and recreation for future planning. Bites from Latin Market and children’s activities provided. RSVP required.
