For the tenth year in a row, Mammoth Hospital has received a $10,000 grant from the Albertsons Companies and Vons Foundation to fund $10 mammograms for low-income residents in Mammoth Lakes and its surrounding communities. With this gift, the Vons Foundation has given $100,000 to Mammoth Hospital’s low-cost mammography program!
This recurring donation allows Mammoth Hospital to offer $10 mammograms in the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) to over 40 patients per year. Mammoth Hospital matches this grant, as well as offering $20 mammograms to patients in need every other month of the year.
This program allows Mammoth Hospital to diagnose about six early-stage cancers annually. By catching cancer in this stage, a patient’s chance of survival rises exponentially. Many women in this small community might go without lifesaving screenings were it not for the generosity of the Albertsons Companies and Vons Foundations.
We encourage community members to donate to support this lifesaving work. To lend your support to the Mammography Fund serving residents of Mono County, contact Gardiner Miller, Foundation Coordinator, at [email protected].
