Construction on Lake Mary Road iin Mammoth is expected to continue until the real snow flies. Town of Mammoth Community Relations Manager Stuart Brown reports that the upper section of Lake Mary Road is nearly complete. There is more work to do on the foot bridge at the Lake George lookout and crews are expected to be out over the next two weeks seeding the shoulder of the road with native seed mix.

The lower section of Lake Mary Road, is a bigger job. Brown reports that the contractor continues to work on the retaining walls needed to widen the road area to allow for the bike path. Starting this week and running through November 19th, crews are expected to work on pouring the retaining walls before putting the project to rest for the winter.

Town officials also report that until the end of October, the upper section of Lake Mary Road stays open unless there are six inches of snow on the road. If we get the six inches, the Forest Service consults various stakeholders on possible road closure. After November first, if six inches fall on Lake Mary Road its time to bust out the cross country skis because the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center starts up grooming operations for the year.
