Mr. Joe Dell has been selected to lead the Bishop Fire Department as its new
Chief effective June 1, 2018.
In a joint statement issued by City Administrator Jim Tatum and Rural Fire
Commisson Chairman Mike Holland, they said, “We are excited that Mr. Dell has
accepted our offer to lead our great fire department. He brings over 24 years of
experience in the fire service, from being a local volunteer firefighter in Lone Pine
to his current position as Lieutenant in Castle Rock, Colorado. It is important to
note that his current position of lieutenant in Colorado is equal to that of a
captain in California.”
The Bishop City Council and the Bishop Rural Fire Protection District Commission
welcomes Mr. Dell, his wife, and children to Bishop. Their relocation to Bishop is
being worked out, and Mr. Dell looks forward to starting his new position as Fire
Chief on June 1, 2018.
Pat O’Neil, longtime Bishop Fire Department member and Assistant Fire Chief, will
continue as Interim Fire Chief until Mr. Dell’s arrival in June
