We haven’t made plans to come up yet, we usually spend a fair bit of money with our extended family as we come up two or three times a year. I’m worried about tire slashing and the hostile remarks that I keep reading about on message boards. Are these “locals”… Read more »
Sasha, thanks for voicing your concerns. The tire slashing was an isolated incident and there was no direct link to anti-visitor sentiment. Every year some idiot, whether its at Whitney Portal Road or just along a random street in one of our communities or in this last incident, down at… Read more »
Hi Sasha, I think most of us locals are absolutely fine with visitors / tourists, it is unfortunately the “bad apples” that cause most of the grief and add fuel to the stereotype. I hope you and your family do come back to visit when the time is right, and… Read more »

Way to put visitors all in one bag. I hike and run all over Mono County, I have never run into people poo. Maybe some litter now and then. I don’t now where you hang out….
@MP, Not sure who your your comment was directed at, but Mono is my county and has been for many years. That aside, the overwhelming majority of our county is public land that belongs to everyone, not just those few who happen live here. So we all have a stake… Read more »
Opening up to fishing without camping, lodging, restrooms, trash service, etc. is a mistake. There is a megalopolis full of fisherman just a few hours south of here who are very anxious to get going. Mono County has abruptly opened the doors, now how do they intend to accommodate the… Read more »
