very rough weather. An Inyo search team member joined the effort.

Corporal Terry Waterbury, Inyo Search and Rescue Co-ordinator, confirmed that one team member responded to the request for assistance. News reports from Reno said that Rick Gentry had telephoned law officers about 5pm Sunday to say he was lost and not dressed for the extreme cold.

Crews failed to find him but continued with the search around Galena Creek Park off the Mount Rose Highway. News reports said that rescue workers found several items Monday evening believed to have belonged to Gentry, including a snowshoe, a fanny pack and a black glove.

Washoe County Sheriff’s spokesmen said this may be a sign Mr. Gentry is suffering from hypothermia. Authorities said they believe he is a skilled hiker which should help his prospects.
