June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary Election

  • Third Report, Semi-Official Final June 5, 2018 @ 11:25 pm. This report includes all of Election Day. For Inyo County, the next report will be posted on Thursday and will include all vote by mail ballots that were turned in at the polls on Election Day and all mailed ballots received as of June 5th. 

Inyo County Results – based on the third semi-official report as of 11:30 Tuesday evening.

Supervisor, 1st District: Incumbent Dan Totheroh leads challenger Lynne Greer with 460 to 403 votes.

For the job of Inyo County Sheriff, Undersheriff Jeff Hollowell is beating Deputy Josh Nicholson handily, 2,111 to 1,440.

In state-wide elections, Inyo looked a little schizophrenic, favoring Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives, 8th District Marge Doyle by 100 votes over incumbent Paul Cook. Democrat Jose Sigala held a solid lead over incumbent Republican Devon Mathis for the 26th District State Assembly seat. Then, Republican Andreas Borgeas scored twice as many votes as Democrat Paulina Miranda for the 8th District State Senate seat.

Doyle didn’t do as well district-wide, coming in a distant second to Cook but leading Tim Donnelly by a 433 points with 36.4-percent of the votes counted. District-wide Mathis leads Sigala, 10,421 to 10,256 with 93-percent of the votes in.

Both school general obligation bond measures failed. Lone Pine unified School District: 229 no votes to 174 yes; Owens Valley Unified School District: 94 no votes to 77 yes.

Mono County Results

Mammoth Town Council, with all five precincts reporting:

Lynda Salcido with 959 votes, incumbent John Wentworth at 696 and Kirk Stapp with 585 the top three vote getters. Also, Jennifer Burrows 487, Brent Truax 387 and Lesley-Anne Hoxiee 319.

For Mono County Superintendent of Schools, incumbent  Stacey Adler lead challenger Jennifer Huh by 20 votes. Stacy Corless had a commanding 43-percent lead over challenger Eric Kaufman in the District 5 Supervisorial race. In District 1, Jennifer Halferty logged 214 votes to Jesse Rea’s 52.

Mono County votes preferred Democrats in the major state races, going for Gavin Newsom for governor, Eleni Kounalakis for lieutenant governor and Alex Padilla for secretary of state. Doyle had a commanding lead over Cook, 1,310 to 860. Democrat Carla Neal had a slim 7-percent lead over Republican incumbent Frank Bigelow for the District 5, State Assembly seat. District-wide results weren’t in as of 1 a.m. this morning.

All four measures passed in Mono County and the Town of Mammoth Lakes. Measure A, Mammoth Lakes Fire Protection District’s $79 parcel tax passed 1073 to 641; Mammoth Unified School District’s $63.1 general obligation bond, Measure B, passed 1073 to 641; The Town of Mammoth Lakes and County cannabis taxes both passed, 1105 to 238 and 2210 to 560, respective.
