Inyo County Unveils Its First-Ever Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP); Community Invited to Learn More and Get Involved

Bishop, CA – Inyo County Health and Human Services, Public Health Division is proud to announce the completion of the County’s first-ever Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP)—a collaborative roadmap designed to improve the health and well-being of everyone who lives, works, and plays in Inyo County. Led by the Inyo County Health and Human Services, Public Health Division, the CHIP identifies key health priorities and outlines strategies to make lasting improvements in the health and well-being of residents across the county.

The CHIP was developed with input from residents, healthcare partners, and community organizations. Through data analysis and engagement, the community identified three top health priorities for Inyo County:

• Access to Care and Resources – Expanding access to and awareness of medical, dental, behavioral health, and social services so that all residents can get the care and support they need.
• Maternal Mental Health – Supporting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of mothers and families during pregnancy and postpartum.
• Substance Use Disorders – Preventing and reducing substance use through education, early intervention, and increased access to treatment and recovery supports.

Community members are invited to learn more and get involved by attending one of the upcoming CHIP presentations:

• Tuesday, November 18, 10:00 am: Informational presentation to the Inyo County Board of Supervisors at the Board Room in Independence
• Wednesday, November 19, 6:00-7:00 pm: Community Presentation at the Eastern Sierra Business Resource Center at 268 N. Main St., in Bishop
  • Dinner will be provided, and attendees will have a chance to win prizes!

At the community event, residents will learn how the CHIP can serve as a guide for improving health and well-being across Inyo County, and how everyone can play a part in putting the plan into action. The CHIP is more than a plan—it’s a call to action. Public Health can’t do this work alone. Every resident, organization, and partner has a role to play in creating a healthier Inyo County.
