First,we had the ridiculous rumors saying Whitney Portal Road would be open by the end of September and in time to appease the LP film festival tourists and the $$$ they bring to the area…now we’re being told the “Feds” are involved and saying it will be open by June 2024,and in time for the tousist season opening…
Yep….a sure fire way to get things done is to get the Federal Government involved and pulling the strings and solving the problem.
If Whitney Portal Road is open before September 2024, it’ll surprise me…
Whoever doubts that,take a drive, then a walk to the effected areas of the road..and you’ll see what I mean…

It’s good the feds have taken over the task of repairing Whitney Portal Road.
It took Inyo County six years just to replace the bridge over Pine Creek.
