Notice of Election

Inyo County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar Danielle M. Sexton would like to encourage all Inyo County voters to participate in the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election. Make your plan to vote!

Key Election Dates:

  • 10/06/25: Ballots will be mailed to every active registered voter, as required by Election Code § 3000.5. Our local Voter Information Guide will be included in the envelope with the ballot. To verify if you will receive your mailed ballot, please check your Voter Registration Status here: https://VoterStatus.sos.ca.gov/
  • 10/20/25: Voter Registration Deadline to receive a mailed ballot. Anyone who has recently moved is encouraged to check their registered physical and mailing addresses at https://VoterStatus.sos.ca.gov/ Voter Registration forms are available at the Inyo County Elections Office, any Inyo County post office or library, and online at https://RegisterToVote.ca.gov/
  • 10/28/25: Deadline to request replacement ballot by mail. After this date, registered voters may pick up in- person at the Elections Office until Election Day.
  • 10/30/25: Mailed ballots received in the Elections Office by Thursday 10/30/25 will be included in the first election results report which will be posted on our website at 8 p.m. on Election Night. Vote-by-mail ballots received after this date will be tallied and reported after Election Day.
  • 11/04/25: Election Day! Our in-person voting polling places will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. We have a new location in Bishop, and your location may have changed! The stub on your mailed ballot will provide your in-person voting location. Voting locations are also listed on our website: https://elections.inyocounty.us/voting/voting-locations/

Voters are now able to use their mailed ballot as their in-person ballot at any Inyo County polling place. For this, the voter must still check in with the Roster Table and confirm eligibility and sign the Digital Roster. The ballot holder will be checked by election workers to confirm it matches the ballot type and precinct being issued in the Digital Roster.

  • 11/11/25: Last day a ballot postmarked by election day can be received for counting.
  • 11/17/25: Ballot Signature Verification form early Due Date: Mailed ballots received on Election Day, or postmarked by Election Day and received by 11/11/25, and Conditional and Provisional Ballots received on Election Day will continue to be processed until they are completed. Mailed Ballots that did not pass signature inspection will result in voters receiving a form requesting a signature validation. Per the laws set by SB 280, EC § 8166, we are required to accept these forms up to 11/30/25, and shall not certify the results of this special election until 12/02/25 if any signature validation forms are pending. However, we are asking for all forms to be submitted early so all ballots can be included in the Audit, and that we may certify the election within days after the Audit.
  • 11/19/25 (tentative): Post Election Audit – 1% Hand Tally Audit
  • 12/02/25 (or sooner if we have no pending mailed ballot signature issues): Official Canvass of Vote – Certification of Local Election Results. Per SB 280, EC § 8166, the elections official shall not certify the results of the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election prior to the 28th calendar day following the election, unless there are no pending mailed ballot signature issues. If there are no outstanding mailed ballot signature issues, we will certify as soon as possible.
  • 12/05/25: Statement of the Vote Certified by State. Final Statewide Results will be certified by the Secretary of State. Any “final results” provided before this date are not official or validated.
