Inyo County’s Fiscal Year 2014-2015 Recommended Budget

Available on On-line

inyocourthouseThe entire Fiscal Year 2014-2015 CAO Recommended Budget document is available on-line at the County’s webpage,  HYPERLINK “http://www.inyocounty.us” www.inyocounty.us.  The Recommended Budget details the revenue and expenditures being proposed for each of the County’s 138 budget units for the current fiscal year, and will be the subject of the County’s Budget Hearings that commenceat 9 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, in the Inyo County Administrative Offices, 224 N. Edwards Street, Independence, California.

Please note that the Board of Supervisor’s consideration of the Advertising County Resources budget unit and the Grants-in-Support budget unit, originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday September 3rd, is now scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on the 3rd.  This means the Board will not consider the items before 3:00 p.m., but may consider the budgets after that time. By State law, County Budget Hearings may extend for 10 consecutive days.

“The Budget is the County’s spending plan and, as such, sets Inyo County’s service and program priorities for the coming year,” said County Administrator Kevin Carunchio. “If citizens want to know what’s happening in the County or, more importantly, influence its priorities, there’s no better time to get involved in local government than during the budget process. I encourage all residents and business owners to review the Recommended Budget and come to the Budget Hearings.”

For those looking for lighter reading, also available on the County’s webpage is the Introduction & Summary of the Fiscal Year 20014-2015 CAO Recommended Budget. The Introduction & Summary, or Budget Message, looks at the “big picture” fiscal challenges and opportunities faced by the County this fiscal year. The Budget Message contains both the good and the not-so-good aspects of the County’s budget situation, and discusses challenges and opportunities facing the County in this and coming fiscal years. The Budget Message also highlights the differences between the Department Requested Budget and the CAO Recommended Budget. And, it includes concise information about the county’s income (from taxes, fees and other sources) and a breakdown of expenses by function (i.e. Public Safety, Roads, Public Assistance, Public Health, General Services, etc.).
