In conjunction with Inyo County’s Sesquicentennial, Big Pine will be hosting its popular Heritage Days celebration sponsored by the Big Pine Civic Club and the Big Pine Cemetery District Future Residents’ Association.

The weekend events will start with the Heritage Days Sponsors’ dinner on Saturday, October 15 at the Big Pine Town Hall on Dewey Street. Social hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. with historical exhibits of the Big Pine community on display.

Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., which will include prime rib with au jus sauce, chicken cordon blue, green salad, crab salad, red rose mash potatoes, au gratin potatoes, vegetables, fruit plate, beverages, and four different desserts.

Dinner will be followed by the Sesquicentennial Program at 7:00p.m. and the presentation of the Big Pine Citizen of the Year award.

 

The celebration will continue on Sunday, October 16 with the 4th annual Heritage Walk at the Crocker Cemetery at 605 Crocker St. with tours beginning at 1:00 p.m. and going until 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the special pioneer families being featured this year, returning appearances will be made by the Weeping Widow, the Madam, Sheriff, Deputy, Jailer, Bar Maids, Working Girls, Members of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, and the Undertaker.

Only 100 Sponsor tickets for admission to both the dinner and walk will be sold for $25, while tickets for just the Heritage Walk are $10 and will be available at the cemetery gate.

We hope the Owens Valley community will attend and help Big Pine celebrate its 150 years!
