Her life will touch so many: Honor Walk tribute for Dreamy Metcalf

Throughout her life, Donella “Dreamy” Metcalf gave so much to others: Love, laughter, support, and compassion. It came as no surprise to those who knew her that her final wish was to give others a chance at life through the gift of organ donation.
Dreamy Metcalf, 58, suffered a sudden attack, and was ultimately placed on life support. When it became apparent that she would not be returning to her family and friends, as they knew and loved her, her wish to be an organ donor was honored.
Northern Inyo Healthcare District held an Honor Walk for Dreamy Metcalf and her family on Sunday, Sept. 19. Honor Walks take place when a donor patient, who is on life support, is transferred from Intensive Care to the Operating Room. During the NIHD walk, caregivers and District staff, quietly gather along the hallway to pay their respects to Dreamy and her family, and to say thank you.
This is the first Honor Walk at NIHD since 2011.
In the United States, more than 110,000 men, women and children are waiting for lifesaving transplant surgery.
The NIHD team thanks Dreamy for giving this gift of life to others and asks everyone to remember Dreamy for the life she lived and the life she gave to others.
With the permission of her family, Dreamy’s Honor Walk may be viewed here: https://youtu.be/Ks2HKLpZiCk
