Bishop, CA – November 13, 2025  Tonight’s scheduled performance of “Going Postal!”—the beloved Sierra Classic Theatre murder mystery event at Tom’s Place—has been postponed in response to the rapidly evolving wildfire situation near McGee Creek in Mono County.

“Due to the urgency of the fire and related evacuations, we are very sorry for anyone affected by tonight’s postponement,” said Jesse Steele, director of the production. “We wish everyone in the area the best. We will post a new date for the performance in the coming week.”

Fire crews continue to battle the blaze that erupted near McGee Creek Road, just west of Highway 395 toward Crowley Lake. The incident, under unified command of CAL FIRE San Bernardino‑Inyo‑Mono Unit, Bureau of Land Management, and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office, has already grown to approximately 1,000 acres and triggered immediate evacuation orders for multiple zones.

Highway 395 is closed in the affected area, from Tom’s Place to Benton Crossing Road, with drivers advised to detour via U.S. 6 through Bishop.

Evacuations are in effect for McGee Creek, Crowley Lake, Aspen Springs, among others; the area is legally closed to public access while the fire remains uncontrolled.

With the dramatic change in conditions around McGee Creek and Tom’s Place, locals are urged to stay alert:

  • If you were planning to attend the performance tonight, please await notification of the rescheduled date.
  • Smoke impacts and road closures may affect travel, air quality, and general accessibility in the region.
  • The safety of our patrons, performers, and crew is our top priority—we appreciate your understanding and support.
  • Stay tuned to Eastern Sierra NOW for further updates on the fire, rescheduling details, and community advisories.

We extend our thoughts to everyone impacted by the fire—residents, evacuees, first responders—and thank the numerous agencies working tirelessly in challenging conditions.
