The Broncos used a big 3rd quarter to pull away for a 47-28 win over South Gate in the State Regional Championship game Saturday. Bishop led 20-14 at the half thanks to a goal line stand as time expired in the 2nd quarter. Bishop then outscored South Gate 20-0 in the 3rd quarter putting the game away. Bishop will now travel to Fullerton to face Calaveras in the CIF State football Championship Game. The game will kick off at 3pm. Bishop advances thanks to a monster game from quarterback Emory Dondero. The senior completed 15 of 23 passes for 242 yards and 4 touchdowns. Emory also rushed 7 times for 38 yards and a touchdown. Hunter Dailey rolled up 125 yards on 14 carries. Richie Talavera had a big night receiving with 116 yards and a touchdown on 7 receptions. Carlos Sualez caught 3 passes for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Dom Dondero caught 3 passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. Defensively the Broncos were led by DeVaun Mitchell who made 10 solo tackles and 3 assists. Levi Derr had a pair of quarterback sacks, a tackle for a loss and blocked a punt. Chucky Delgado made 8 solo tackles and broke up a pass. Dom Dondero made 4 solo tackles and 5 assist. Malachi Orrick had 4 solo stops and David Smith had 4 solos including a sack. Dom Barlow had 5 total tackles and broke up a pass. Elliott Douda had 3 solos, 5 assists and a pass break up. Carlos Sualez had 4 solos and Darrick Cortez had 3 solos and 2 assists. Wyatt Miears recovered a fumble and had a pair of tackles.
