Big Piner
And, sadly what some here in the Inyo and Mono Counties would want to happen, thinking it would mean more money in THEIR pockets and jobs for THEM…like some did believing the lies “Cougar Gold” was telling residents in Bridgeport ten or so years back, saying it would mean “hundreds of high-paying jobs ” for Bridgeport residents”, and promising to “dump their waste onto the Nevada side” and not into Mono County.”
I get a laugh when they also try to say “mining built this area” long ago”, and we “need it to happen again “.
Things a little bit different now days when it comes to the billion-dollar out of State, sometimes out of Country mining operations invading an area with crews and equipment, and not the same as in the 1800’s when settlers moved West with their families and gold pans in a wagon hoping to make it rich…
What could go wrong ?
Large mining operations,up and into Wilderness,Endangered Species and Wildlife areas and near creeks, lakes, and the Owens River…
This big money-making venture from out of town and State big-money companies will meet the same fate as the “Cougar Gold” attempted take-over did a few years back in the Bodie Hills, and the “proposed” gold mining just outside Death Valley National Park just recently.
U.S. Forest Service…..meet the Sierra Club and Friends of Inyo….
Ah yes, a gold mine! You mine it til it’s empty, and big ingots all go in someone’s vault. Leaves a huge mess behind, but it’s gold!
