FREE TAX HELP FEBRUARY THROUGH APRIL 15th
It’s that time of year again. The AARP Foundation Tax Aide programs in Bishop and Mammoth using IRS-certified volunteers prepare federal and state tax returns online without charge to low- and moderate-income residents.
Both sites will be operating a modified process again this year. The process has three basic steps:
-
Ahead of your first appointment, you will pick up an intake packet from the library. Read and fill out all of the forms in the intake packet prior to your first appointment.
-
At your first appointment, a counselor will meet briefly with you to go over your intake packet and tax forms. They will be kept until your second appointment. Your tax return will be prepared and quality reviewed offsite.
-
On your second visit (about a week later), a counselor will meet briefly with you to go over your finished return, obtain your signatures, and return your tax materials to you. Your tax return is e-filed that same day.
Call one of the following numbers for an appointment or for more information:
-
Bishop: (760) 938-0468
-
Mammoth: (760) 914-4352
We will be offering limited service in Lone Pine in late February. Call the Bishop number above for more information about service in Lone Pine and southern Inyo County.
We encourage all taxpayers to file early even if they potentially owe money as those payments are not due until April 15th, regardless of when they file their tax return.
