When Intrawest came to town several years ago, plans for major development were born, including plans for upscale hotels. One of those visions opened its doors. The Westin Monache Resort in the Village area.

According to Mammoth Mountain, the Westin Monache is the first internationally recognized upscale hotel property in Mammoth and one of the first flagged condo-hotels to open in California.

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony with champagne and local officials, Westin General Manager James McGillivray talked about the deluxe accommodations which include gas fireplaces, special beds, plus bathrobes and wireless high-speed internet access. The Westin includes the Whitebark Restaurant.

Room service, anyone?
