2020 2 14 Donald J. Clark Supt. ESUSD RIP
According to a Facebook announcement, former Eastern Sierra Unified School
District Superintendent, Donald J. Clark, passed away at age 58 of brain cancer at
his home in Palmer, Alaska on February 14, 2020.

Clark was ESUSD superintendent from 2007 to 2019. He was diagnosed with cancer in late 2019.
His wife, Erika wrote on Facebook that “Today we lost a father, a husband, a
brother, a son, a grandfather, a teacher, a friend, and a coach. He was not in pain,
and he was surrounded by those who he loved the most and who loved him the most.

Don touched many lives and instilled his love and his passions into each person
who he touched. His most treasured passions included his love of his family,
teaching, coaching, hunting, fishing and living in Alaska.”

On his website, Clark wrote that “In 2001 I was promoted from principal to
superintendent by the Cordova, Alaska School Board. Then in 2007 I was hired by
the Eastern Sierra Unified School District Board…I have been a superintendent for
the past 12 years in two of the most beautiful places in the world.

Among one of his proudest profession accomplishments was Clark was awarded
the 2016 California Superintendent/Principal of the year by the Association of
California School Administrators (ACSA).

Clark’s funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
