Mammoth Invitational 2013

Team and Ticket Sales Now Open, Pro Athletes Lined Up

Make plans to be on Mammoth Mountain April 12-14 for the fifth annual Mammoth Invitational, a benefit for the Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation. The Invitational is a weekend of friendly competition and big mountain fun, all for a good cause: kids!

One thing that makes the Invitational a stand-out event is the participation of pro skiers and snowboarders as team coaches: X-Games gold medalist Kelly Clark, Olympian Stacey Cook, home-grown ski cross champion John Teller and free ski legend Glen Plake, along with national and international winter sports stars such as Didier Cuche, Steven Nyman, Manfred Moelgg and Laurenne Ross. The Invitational is a perfect send-off to many of these athletes who will be competing in the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

Mammoth Mountain pulls out all the stops for a great three days on snow and off, including a biathlon, poker run, racing and more. New this year is an on-snow expo, open to the public, at Main Lodge/Main Park that gives kids a chance to meet, ski and ride with their favorite pro athletes.

Friday evening, April 12, Mammoth Invitational weekend participants and the community get together for Canyon Royale. This Monte-Carlo style party features gaming, entertainment, revelry and auctions—tickets are $100 per person and include food, drink and $100 in “funny money.”

Invitational participants get the Chair 14 area to themselves Saturday morning, and are treated to a gala banquet and auction Saturday night.

What It Funds

Last year, Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation raised over $500,000 for support of youth athletics and education at Mammoth Mountain and in the Eastern Sierra, and the Invitational was a big part of that effort. As a result, in 2012 Mammoth Mountain Community Foundation was able to fund a complete renovation, upgrade and lease of Mammoth Mountain’s Slopeside building as the new headquarters for the hundreds of kids on the Mammoth Ski and Snowboard Teams—a huge first step toward realizing the vision of a world-class training facility at Mammoth Mountain. MMCF continues to fund coaching, training, travel and scholarships for young athletes while also donating over $200,000 to Mammoth Unified School District for staffing and programs that improve education for all students in Mammoth. Funds raised at the Invitational are also used to provide access to Mammoth Mountain for children in communities across the Eastern Sierra, assuring participation in snow sports and outdoor experiences through school “ski p.e.” programs.

Additionally, the Invitational supports an annual donation to World Cup Dreams, a Utah-based nonprofit that furthers the growth and development of the nation’s best skiers by helping them realize their athletic goals and dreams through financial support and disability protection.

Get Involved

Whether you sponsor a team or buy tickets for Canyon Royale, you are making a valuable contribution to kids in Mammoth. MMCF is also accepting auction item donations (a great way for businesses to promote themselves) and needs volunteers to help make the event a huge success.
