Many people in the Eastern Sierra have already been sidelined with unseasonal flu this summer. As the usual flu season fast approaches, local health officials offer a number of ways for you to get a vaccination for seasonal Flu.

flu_vaccineVons Dwaynes and the rural health clinics all offer flu shots this year, but the Health Departments in Inyo and Mono Counties have shots available this week.

Today, between 1:30 and 4:00 pm, flu vaccinations are available at the Bishop Senior Center. From 1:00 to 4:00 this afternoon, vaccinations are also available at the Walker Senior Center.

On Tuesday vaccinations are available in Big Pine between 9:30 and 11:30 am at the Legion Hall.

On Wednesday, the flu shots from the Inyo County Health Department are available at the Bishop Fire Department in the evening between 7:30 and 8:30 pm.

Thursday, you can get a vaccination at the Inyo County Health Clinic in Independence between 1:00 and 4:00 pm and at Statham Hall in Lone Pine between 12:30 and 5:00 pm.

On Friday, the vaccinations are available at the Inyo Mono WIC between 1:00 and 5:00 pm.

Flu mist, the intranasal vaccine is available for people between the ages of 2 and 49. If you are pregnant, Inyo Health Officials say that preservative free vaccinations will be available toward the end of the month.

MediCal and Medicare recipients receive the shots for free, non medicare recipients are charged $7.

There is only one Mono Health location this week, but numerous locations will offer the seasonal flu vaccinations in Mono County next week. There are also more times offered in Inyo County next week. We will keep you posted on times and dates.
