It is easy to forget in the midst of this current coronavirus pandemic that throughout history all sorts of pathogens inhabit our world. We live with most of them without harm for the most part. But then something comes along new, something for which we have no natural immunity. In the case of COVID-19, not only do we not have natural immunity, we do not have a vaccine for it either.
However, while we do have a vaccine for influenza (flu), doctors fear that the combination of both COVID-19 and the flu could prove a deadly combination. They refer to it as a ‘Twindemic.” Health authorities are strongly urging everyone to get a flu shot this year.
And flu isn’t the only other virus out there. Even common cold viruses could prove serious in combination with the coronavirus.
Sierra Wave came across this visual resource information offered on the topic from the University of South Dakota. Great visual graphics and easy to understand explanations of all the things out there that can, and in some cases, do harm us and how they work inside the body.

Yes. it was my attempt to poke fun at the people who, by the third or forth reply, bring politics into ANYTHING. The weather. An arrest in Mammoth. A rescue on a mountain. A few years back it would have been Obama’s fault. If there was an internet long ago it would have been George Washington’s fault. Indeed if I remember right, one of the plagues was the Pope’s fault.
I do enjoy irritating some people, it’s a weakness. Particularly the ones who so richly deserve it.
And Charles bit big time.
Thank you Mr. Charles James for your tireless efforts at keeping us informed with journalistic integrity and honesty.
I respectfully submit you have a bit of Benett Kessler in you.
RIP Benett.
And here is another;

You know what they had in common? They were all Trumps fault. Ha, ha.
No one is saying that this current extremely serious global pandemic is Trump’s fault.
But his response has been reckless, incompetent, incoherent and full of ineptitude in almost every regard, and he just can’t stop lying about it.
Donald,

Interesting reaction to your post. Here at SWM, we review any links embedded in comments before we post them to (a) ensure the link works and (b) check the validity of the website, reputation, reviews, etc. The URL you posted is an exceptionally good website for information, graphics, and articles.
It is impossible to know whether the “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” were a reaction to your mention of “Trump” or the word “capitalist” found in company’s name on the link, https://www.visualcapitalist.com/. The company creates visual representations on all types of topics and data to make them easier to understand. The visual representation of the History of Pandemics was not at all political.
The comment in the comment post was actually meant to be joking and sarcasm, which some readers took the wrong way. It’s unfortunate that today there is often an immediate emotional, visceral reaction by many readers, positive or negative, depending on the viewers/readers political views to certain words and slogans. Actually, the company has a really good graphic on Cognitive Bias.
Don, thank you for reaching out to explain your comment and reason for providing the link.
