The Mono County Sheriffs Department reports that the pilot of the fatal glider accident over the weekend was Geoffrey Robert Loyns of Minden, Nevada.

Sheriff's officials report that the glider crashed near Boundary Peak, on the northern end of the White Mountains on Saturday. Using a helicopter out of the Naval Air Station in Fallon, Mono deputies along with the Mono County Volunteer Search and Rescue Team, recovered the body of the pilot at ten thousand feet in elevation.

The National Transportation and Safety Board and the Mono Sheriffs Department will continue to investigate the incident.

The pilot, Geoffrey Loyns was 56 years old.
