Fall Hiring efforts underway at Inyo National Forest

BISHOP, Calif., October 27, 2023 — As part of a region-wide annual hiring effort, Inyo National Forest is now hiring temporary, permanent and internship positions across several program areas in fire, recreation, archeology, engineering maintenance, visitor services and animal packing.

There are several separate hiring efforts providing opportunities for recent graduates, re-hires, and new temporary hires as well. Please visit the Inyo National Forest’s Employment webpage for a complete list of positions available and their corresponding links to USAJobs.gov:

www.fs.usda.gov/main/inyo/about-forest/jobs

Positions are available within all four ranger districts, so applicants should select anywhere they would be willing to work for Inyo National Forest (Lee Vining, Mammoth, Bishop and Lone Pine). We encourage selecting “location negotiable,” as it’s possible that not all locations are listed, however hiring managers may still be able to select from the certification list for each duty station location.

Once hired, employees can also more easily be re-hired if their term is a temporary appointment.

Applications have differing deadlines and expected start dates:

  • For recent graduate positions in Forestry and Fuels Planning, applications close November 1 (these Forestry positions are also open to current federal employees as well)
  • For temporary positions, applications close November 8.
  • For permanent-seasonal positions, applications close November 22.

For questions, please call/email to Public Affairs Officer [email protected] (760) 873-2427 and she will route your concern to the appropriate staff.
