Karma, the red-tailed hawk

The people at Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care take care of animals that would likely die without their help – hawks, crows, hummingbirds, owls, small animals. Many of them lie injured on the highway until Cindy Kamler and her crew nurse them back to health.

On October 24th, Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care will hold their fifth annual fundraiser, Wild Spirits at Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop. The fundraiser honors one bird in particular, Karma the red-tailed hawk. A spectacular bird that escaped a brush with death and came to the hands of the wildlife care center. The stuck with him and he returned to the wild.

Karma took off unexpectedly but has served as inspiration for the center and its many supporters. Some of the rescue mission include a three-day old baby hummingbird no larger than a black bean, a mother raccoon and her five babies.

Eastern Sierra Wildlife Care does function on volunteers but needs donations for utilities, medications for the injured animals and food.

Citizens from Southern Inyo to Mammoth Lakes have delivered animals and birds in trouble to Cindy and her crew. You can join them at Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop Sunday, October 24th at 6pm. You can donate any time. They need your help.
