Area Forecast Discussion – Tue Feb 20 2024
The bulk of the moisture (rain / snow) began to taper off yesterday AM, where Aspendell early Monday had a 2″/hr snow rate between 4 am and 10 am, leading to 8″ to 12″ of snow. Lone Pine yesterday had rain moderate at times in the AM (0.5 inches), tapering off in the afternoon. Today and Wednesday, the upper level pattern splits, cutting off the rich supply of moisture. So maybe another 5 – 8 inches at the Main Lodge. Wednesday will feature more sun than clouds. The splitting nature of the storm really messed up overall snowfall predictions. Oh well, such is weather forecasting. The Owens Valley will see dry days Wed – Fri and Mammoth Thu – Fri…DMATT
