Area Forecast Discussion
Owens Valley / Mammoth Lakes / Mono County / Death Valley
Dennis Mattinson / Sierra Atmospheric Forecaster
Synopsis – FRI JAN 24 2025
Dry weather today, as we are sandwiched between a Pacific ridge of high pressure and a broad longwave trough over the Central US. Then change is afoot, as a slow moving shortwave hovers over our area Saturday into early next week. Plenty of cold air will come with this system. Possible snow amounts 3 – 6 inches of new snow over Mammoth Main Lodge. For the Owens Valley you can expect snow levels around 4K feet with snow amounts up to >1″ of new snow. The only caveat on snow amounts, is how long the system stalls over our area and how cold the air actually gets…Have a Great “Snow” Do It Weekend…DMATT
